London Poppies

London Poppies

21 Sep

London poppies are a powerful symbol of remembrance, particularly associated with the annual commemoration of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. The most notable display is the “Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red” installation at the Tower of London, where thousands of ceramic poppies were placed in 2014 to mark the centenary of World War I. Each poppy represented a British military fatality during the war, creating a sea of red that captivated visitors and drew attention to the sacrifices made by servicemen and women. In addition to the iconic installations, paper poppies are widely worn by individuals during the remembrance period, and proceeds from their sale support veterans and military charities. Overall, London poppies embody a message of honor, reflection, and respect for those who have served.
